Friday, December 5th, 2008

If you’ve set up a bar in your home and you’re ready to entertain guests, you need to make sure you’ve got all the essential supplies, starting with a proper beer draft system for pouring out beers to your guests. You’ll want a kegerator to keep the beer cold, but dont forget about some nice beer tap handle so you can proudly display what brand of beer you’re serving. You’ll also want a variety of beer mugs and beer glasses. Maybe even some beer steins. But don’t forget to add a selection of liquors and mixers for making drinks. Some of the absolute essential alcohols to have in your stocked bar are: Vodka, Gin, Rum, and Whiskey or Bourbon. Other essentials are vermouth, coffee licquer, and triple sec, which are used in many cocktail recipes. You’ll also want a bottle of red wine and a bottle of white, and a cooler with a selection of beers. For mixers you’ll want to have tonic, club soda, and some sort of juice like orange or cranberry. Other supplies you’ll need to have include plenty of glassware. Different drinks taste best with different styles of glasses, such as highball, lowball, wine glasses, flutes, and so on. You’ll also need bottle openers and corkscrews, swizzle sticks for mixing, and umbrellas for decorating your fancy drinks. You should also have a shaker and pourer on hand for mixing martinis and other shaken drinks. With all these items in hand, you’ll have a totally stocked and ready-to-go bar!
